GETTING STARTED
At Shalimar Alpacas, we truly believe in the importance of genetic selection. When we started our alpaca breeding program, we chose a few proven females who met very high quality standards. We looked for those who could produce crias with strong bone structure, superb fleece, and perfect bites. Our first females included a white with incredible micron count (20.2 MC at seven years of age), a dark fawn with perfect structure and the potential to throw color, and a brown with an amazing black cria at her side. All three females were Chilean imports with clean genetics, ready to breed to top herd sires. By using this approach, our gene pool includes famous alpaca bloodlines such as Accoyo Pachacuti, El Bello (renowned son of Peruvian Hemingway), Accoyo Caligula, Accoyo Pepe (son of Accoyo Vengador), Accoyo Maestro (son of Accoyo El Moustachio), Snowmass Andean Gold and PPPeruvian Royal fawn.

SHOW RING SUCCESS
Our success in the show ring has proven that our breeding program is on the right track. Showing for the first time in 2004, our alpacas took four ribbons in the North American Alpaca Show and four at the MAPACA Jubilee with our males bringing home first and second place honors in large, competitive classes. In 2005, our success continued with blue ribbons for General Sucre and D'Artagnan, showing the great potential of our herd sires.
In 2008 we add Xanadu P Coleridge to our studs group. Since then Cole won multiple colors champion and still has one of the mos amazing fleece on the market. In 2009 we have sold our females producer: General Sucre and start to use a male born at the farm "Invincible Armani" and his amazing genetic. For 2010 we are waiting for crias of both males. The first cria of Coleridge will be wean soon and will be at North America and MAPACA.
